In the third quarter of 2021, the top 5 iOS navigation and maps applications in Europe showed dynamic trends in both downloads and active user metrics. Here is a detailed look at their performance based on data from Sensor Tower.

Google Maps experienced a fluctuating download trend, starting from approximately 755K downloads in late June and peaking at around 904K in the first week of August before gradually declining to about 673K by the end of September. The app's active user base showed a slight decrease over the quarter, moving from 70.4M users at the beginning to 69.3M by the end.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic saw a steady download rate with a peak of 215K downloads in late July, followed by a decline to approximately 165K by the end of September. The active user count for Waze increased from 12.7M in late June to a high of 14.1M in mid-August, before settling at around 13.3M at the end of the quarter.

Google Earth had a consistent download performance, starting at roughly 98K downloads in late June and peaking at 123K in mid-July. By the end of September, the downloads slightly decreased to around 98K. The active user trend showed a gradual decline from 678K users to 623K throughout the quarter.

Yandex Maps & Navigator experienced a notable increase in downloads, starting at 79K in late June and reaching a peak of 108K in late August before declining to 71K by the end of September. Active users for this app rose from 1.92M in late June to 2.19M at the end of August, and slightly decreased to 2.11M by the end of September.

Yandex Navi – navigation, maps maintained a steady download rate, with a slight peak of 76K in mid-July and ending the quarter with 52K downloads. The active user count started at 1.92M in late June and showed a minor decline to 1.74M by the end of September.
